Asana review — polished, pricey, AI behind a paywall
The short version. Asana remains the clean, mature default for cross-functional execution at mid-market and enterprise scale. The Goals → Portfolios → Projects → Tasks hierarchy is the cleanest in our ranking. The 2026 problem: Asana Intelligence (the AI layer) is locked to the Advanced tier at €25/user/mo, and EU residency is Enterprise-only.
Where it wins
- The Goals/Portfolios/Projects/Tasks hierarchy is the cleanest way we've seen to roll up cross-functional execution to org-level OKRs.
- Timeline view (Gantt) and Workload view are mature and frequently the deciding feature for portfolio-management buyers.
- Polished UX — onboarding is fast, keyboard shortcuts are sensible, the mobile app has parity.
- Free tier supports up to 10 users — generous compared to Notion (1) or monday (3-seat minimum).
- Integrations ecosystem is among the largest. Slack, Google Workspace, Salesforce, Adobe, Microsoft — all native.
Where it doesn't
- Asana Intelligence is locked to Advanced tier. At €25/user/mo, that's €6/user/mo more than YourPAZ Premium, and you still don't get EU residency.
- EU residency is Enterprise-only. Custom-quoted, with sales engagement, for any organisation that needs production data in the EU.
- No native notes / wiki / meeting management. Project briefs are pages-of-text within a task, not a real notes surface.
- Schrems II exposure on Starter and Advanced tiers — US-hosted, US-jurisdiction.
- Pricing scales aggressively. A 5-person team on Advanced is €1500/year all-in; the same team on YourPAZ Pro is €1380/year with AI included.
Who should pick Asana
Mid-market and enterprise organisations (100+ people) where portfolio-level visibility across cross-functional projects is the primary use case and the budget supports Enterprise tier. Operations teams who already live in the Asana ecosystem.
Who shouldn't
Small teams, EU buyers who can't justify Enterprise, anyone who also needs notes/meetings/CRM in the same tool.
The alternative we'd recommend instead
For under-30 EU teams, YourPAZ covers more surface area, includes AI in the base subscription, and runs on EU infrastructure by default.
